Mild climate
’Enmity with the wind and great friendship with the sun.’
With these wonderful words at the beginning of the century, Stefan Zweig described the unique climate found in Meran and its surrounding area. Nothing has changed since then! Weather in South Tyrol
In Spring – a soft sea of blossoms. In Summer – Alpine rose meadows. In Autumn – gold and yellow valleys and slopes. In Winter – white mountain peaks under a deep blue sky. Schenna is a natural spectacle at any time of the year. The location at the sunny, South-West slope of the Meran basin encourages the climatic temperatures found in Schenna. The favourable climate in Meran is created by the high mountains which all around, protecting the Etsch Valley. Bad weather and cold air are difficult to find. Beside the mountains, the southern side of the Alps has its positive effect on the climate, with lots of beautiful sunshine. For this reason, you can enjoy at least 4 to 6 hours of sunshine every day during the winter months in this region. In June, the sunshine lasts up to 10 to 13 hours per day.
The mild winters are a great benefit for our landscape. Apples and palm trees, spruce trees and cypress trees, chestnuts and figs all grow in abundance. In this extremely sunny region of Central Europe, springtime comes early in the year and winter starts very late.
