Holiday in Schenna

Which season is the most beautiful?

Visit us and find out yourself ….. whether in Summer, Spring, Autumn or Winter.  –  Schenna is a paradise all year round.

In mid March the ’Langes’arrives.  This is what spring is called in Schenna.  Comfortable temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius.  Blooming apple orchards and flowering meadows bring lots of colour in the village at the southern slope of Meran.  Hike along paths in the high mountains, or along the irrigation channels in the lower parts of this wonderful landscape.

During the summer, you can experience the Mediterranean climate at an altitude of 600 metres: the meadows reveal a lush green colour.  The gardens are full of flowers.  Trees are burdened down with ripening fruit and the mountains present themselves with a fragrant Alpine rose glow.  Would you not want to be moving around in this fresh mountain air?  Whether you take a trip with your mountain bike or walk up the Ifinger, which is the local mountain, you’ll enjoy it.

In the autumn, the temperatures are still quite high.  Even in November, the thermometer often shows a mild 20° C.  This season has a particular appeal: sweet and juicy, crisp and crunchy, voluptuous and golden.  The inhabitants of Schenna indulge in nature’s treasures during this season – and their guests may take part if they choose: apple strudel, chestnut doughnuts, fresh juices, young wine, comfortable ‘Törggelen’, a great snack in an Alpine hut, …..

Picturesque, situated at the foot of snow-covered summits and blazing blue skies, with a fairy-tale image – this is how Schenna looks in the winter season.  The village is right in the middle of the South Tyrolean winter paradise, but still far enough away from the typical ski sports hurly-burly.  It’s a little more than two miles to the Ifing cable-car railway, which leads you right up into the popular Meran 2000 skiing area.  You will get your money’s worth whether you enjoy skiing, cross-country skiing, sledging, snow-shoe hiking or winter hiking.  The relaxing advent atmosphere and pre-Christmas sounds are best experienced in Schenna.  The spa town of Meran can easily be reached by foot or bus.  From November to the beginning of January in Meran, you can enjoy the traditional Christmas market with culinary delicacies and typical products from the South Tyrolean crafts scene.
