Bathing lakes
Bathing fun of a different kind .....
You may ask: where can I cool down if it gets too hot in South Tyrol during the summer? Well, it must not always be an outdoor swimming pool you jump into! Near Schenna, you can find a number of small and large swimming lakes. The following is information on the Montiggl Lake, as well as Lake Kaltern: The Montiggl Lake (12.7 metres deep – 17.8 ha in area) is situated near Eppan (approx. 35 km from Schenna) in a quiet forest area.
To the south of the town of Kaltern (approx. 45 km from Schenna) is the warmest lake in the Alps – Lake Kaltern (4 metres deep – 155 ha in area). It is situated in the midst of typical South Tyrolean vineyards.
During the summer, these lakes offer lots of opportunity for bathing, canoeing, fishing, hiking, cycling, jogging, Nordic Walking, surfing (only at Lake Kaltern). During the winter season, you can ice-skate or enjoy some curling.
There are numerous restaurants and bistros around the area.
