Shopping spree & Christmas market

This year in December, the towns of Meran, Bozen, Brixen, Bruneck and Sterzing have organised their usual traditional Christmas markets.

Meran Christmas Market from 26/11 to 06/01/11.

This year, the Meran Christmas Market opens its doors for the 18th time.  The opening ceremony takes place on Friday, 25th November at 5 p.m. at the Kurpromenade.  During the anniversary festivities, the market will not close as usual on 6th January, but will stay open for another week and ensure there is a great atmosphere in Meran.

Just imagine!  Romantic walks along the promenade, imposing snow-covered mountain peaks in the background, the fragrance of hot mulled drinks and sweet Christmas cookies.  Can you already smell it?
Horse-driven coach rides through the narrow and windy lanes and streets, and afterwards a cup of Meran Lebkuchenmilch (lit: ginger nut milk) and a piece of apple strudel.  In the evening, when the lights are switched on, the Christmas music is heard from afar and as it begins to snow, old memories of times gone by flood in .....

Almost 80 stalls offer a variety of ideas for Christmas presents.  Enjoy the traditional crafts, as well as culinary specialities and typical cakes. 
See how glass is melted to create arty Christmas tree decorations. Watch how candles are formed and slippers are made of felt. 

Our small guests meet at the ’Sternchenclub’, where they can let their fantasies run riot in the Loacker Waffel and Cookie Factory or the Christmas Workshop.  Many new friends can be made this year as well at the children’s parade along the Kurpromenade. 

Wonderful moments can be experienced at Christmas concerts with brass and choir music in churches or along the spa promenade.

Monday to Friday: 10.30 a.m. - 7.30 p.m.
Saturdays: from 10 a.m.
Sundays: from 9 a.m.

Opening times on 24th December: from 10.30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On 25th December and 1st January 2011, the Christmas market is closed.
